I asked him to leave the furnace the way they found it and that I would get a second opinion...
They saved our bacon installing a new furnace Christmas Eve Day and gave us a good price when we were prime targets to gouge (so we weren't breathing carbon monoxide out of our ancient, broken furnace).
This wasn't the first time the second business had seen a misdiagnosis from diamond air!!!
4. Dropped their price to $900 for the repairs because they already have so much time invested (what? this was supposed to be a diagnostics job!)
I had several issues with this business, there are better, more honest businesses out there!
I was told that they would diagnose the issue (for $89), then they would email me an estimate and call to see what we would want to do.
I had an ongoing problem that started last heating season. I had another company come out last year ( 2 service men and 3 visits) They were stumped. I called Diamond since they are a Carrier dealer. Brent diagnosed the problem. He checked items the other guy didn't even think of. In fact the problem should have been addressed when the furnace was originally installed: An altitude and jet orifice issue. Works fine now.
What actually happened:
Diamond air came in to our office to do a routine maintenance check! they changed the filter and things where great! Love the service they provided.
I appreciate they don't pressure me for buying upgrades every time they come. The repair man asks if I'd like a bid, but doesn't pressure. They understand sometimes you just have to keep what you've got working. They've always treated us fairly, honestly and professionally every time!
3. Tried to oversell me on a new furnace ($2,600)!
End result, maybe diamond air is better with new furnaces than troubleshooting used ones... just to give them the benefit of the doubt.
2. Said it is going to cost $1,200...seems high, no?
1. They called me (no estimate emailed!)
They had a tech sitting at the location waiting for a go-ahead, for several hours after the diagnostic even though we weren't even there when this was happening. (whaaaaaat?)
These guys are always able to get someone out to me in a reasonable time, and they do a great job. Between moves and aging homes, I've called on them quite a few times for furnaces and air conditioners.
It only cost me just over $500 using another businesses services.
My AC line had frozen so I found their number online and they sent a tech out the next day and they said I was low on R22 so they added some (that they charge $125.00 a lb) when it only costs roughly $25.00 per lb to buy it. Then the next day the unit stopped working so I called the tech that had come and worked on it and he said he'd come when he got off work to look at it, which seemed odd as to why he'd have to come after he got off work when that's the company I paid for the fix. He came and said my wire to my compressor rattled lose. Well the next day it stopped working again and the manager said he would come look at it, he came out and said my system was flat and was all out of R22 and I had a leak. Well I thought they would of checked for a leak before they filled the system and he wanted to charge me over $1,000 the second time to look for a leak and fix it and then recharge the whole system at the $125.00 a lb. I asked them to either refund my money or come fix the leak like I originally asked them to and recharge the system now for free since they recharged it with it still having a leak and the manager told me no! So i don't recommend this company to anyone if you plan on having a AC unit fixed they will try and rip you off.
