Now I have to go to SE Needham and try to get a refund for my vouchers and explain that this company was not able to find me a place - well in advance - as advertised. What a headache.
I've used golden getaways 3 times now. They are great! I found them because I got a vacation voucher for a 2 night stay in LasVegas it was amazing! They have great customer service and explain the voucher very well remember the voucher has to be set up 30 days in advanced. we loved the hotel on the strip second time we went to Disneyland and they set the package for us it was 900 for a 3 days to Disneyland for me and my wife hotel airfare and hotel they even got us a character breakfast at Paradise Pier!! The last time I used them was for a business trip they got me a cheap flight to Seattle and a 4 star hotel! me and my wife use them every time we travel now.
1) You are not paying for tickets to Pearl Harbor - it is free venue to the public. We felt like this was false advertising - as the package advertises 4 tickets to Pearl Harbor included.
2) If you are flying to a different island on a Delta flight, operated by Hawaiian airlines, with a Delta flight number, you catch your flight in the Hawaiian airlines terminal. We would have missed our flight if not for the nice guy from the car rental bus who drove us personally back to the Hawaiian airlines terminal. Our ticket had a Delta flight number and just referenced the Hawaiian Airlines with an astrick at the bottom. This is information should have been provided by the travel agent - isn't the job discription of a travel agent to provide this kind of critical information.
I received three vouchers from SE Needhams to use for discounted hotel stays sponsored by Golden Getaways for my Honeymoon in Disneyland area. SE Needhams gave me a card with my purchase of the ring with several hotels including Holiday Inn and the Hilton. I called Golden Getaways as instructed over 30 days prior to my scheduled honeymoon date. They said that they would find a place for me to stay and call me back in a couple days. They never did call me back, so I had to call them back. They said that they do not work with the hotels that I was told from SE Needham. I figured that is okay, may not be their fault. But they told me they would call me back once they find a place for me to stay. I waited for 2 more days and did not hear back from them. I called again and a woman told me "not to worry" and that she would "make sure they find a place for me to stay." I did not hear back and had to call them back, again. Once I called and talked to them they said none of the Disneyland area hotels were available. I found it strange, because it is a slow season for Disneyland. I looked on line and called the hotels in that area. THEY WERE AVAILABLE!
Golden getaways is a great company! They have helped us for years. They have set up so many vacation trips for us to Disneyland, Hawaii and even business trips. I recommend giving them a call!!!
They have not found me a place a promised. They deceivingly provided an ad with hotels that they do not use and they do not call you back.
I will NEVER use McKay Travel Golden Getaways again! And I will make sure EVERYONE I know does not either. I have never written a negative review for anything before, I strongly believe in complementing the positive and turning your cheek to the negative, but this case I feel I should warn others. We paid for a trip to Hawaii in 2015. Unfortunately, because of unforeseen circumstanceses we had to reschedule. They were great to work with in 2015 and we were excited to work with them again in 2017. This time was so different. It took months to get the trip scheduled and when it was finally scheduled the terms had changed. From the beginning we had requested 2 bedrooms with doors and 2 full bathrooms in each hotel/condo we stayed in. McKay Travel agreed in 2015 and again in 2017 to 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. When we received the itinerary the room booked only had 1 bed and open loft, with 1 bathroom. When we addressed this issue with McKay their solution was an additional $315, after many discussions, they agreed to the 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms. But what they did not tell us was that in exchange for the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom room we would loose 1 night of paid for accommodations. The conformation of the 2 bedroom condo showed 6 night 7 days. It was not until checking to our hotel that we realized that we were only booked for 5 nights. We really thought it was an oversight and that we would call McKay and it would be fixed, however, that was not the case. After spending countless hours of our vacation time trying resolve this issue we ultimately paid an additional $1200.00 to book new flights. We had a great time in Hawaii and will go back again but we WILL NEVER use McKay Travel Golden Gayeways again! To anyone already booked through McKay here is some helpful information:
Advertises you've won a discounted vacation package deal. Makes you pay 9 months in advance. Schedules your flight very last minute so no one in your party sits together. My wife and I went to Hawaii to celebrate our anniversary we got stuck with twin beds, they weren't even the same hight. The twin beds were in a loft that we were told was secluded. There was absolutely no privacy. Not only will I never use Mckay travel again, I will tell everyone I know how bad our experience was and how his cut rate scabed together packages work. Also were told a rental was van was included for our party. Only one person was allowed to drive it and we paid an additional $100.00. Only one couple had the opportunity to go do there own thing.
