I had a ganglion cyst removed from my right wrist back in '92 By Dr. Allison and would have gone to him because the cyst never returned and the scar is seamless - he really did an amazing job, but unfortunately he had passed away. So I searched out my other options and found Dr. Bryan...and every time I look at the hack-job scar on my wrist I wish I had NEVER found him!
He fit me in at his inconvenience, when he was going to be out of town within hours. I needed additional care before he would be back so he got me in with someone else sooner than I could have. He was blunt opinionated and confident as those at the top of any field are. He was not interested in listening to me as a patient but we were in exceptional time rushed circumstances. He was just wrong about some things involving the hand and high level piano proficiency but we had no time for me to explain or debate. His focus is on regaining function over appearance or flexibility numbers simply for flexibility.
Due to Dr. Bryan's lack of care and concern to do the job correctly, the cyst was back in 6 short months. Luckily I found Dr. Callister and I wish I had found him before finding Dr. Bryan. Dr. Callister was awesome! I can't even find the scar half the time and have never had any issues with the cyst returning since my surgery back in 2007. He worked with me and was kind and understanding due to my financial situation and not having insurance at the time. He took time to listen and also enlighten me with information that explained some things. He really was amazing and I hold nothing but the highest of respect for him as a man and a surgeon.
I've seen Dr. Callister twice, once a couple of years ago for a mallet injury to my little finger, and this year for a broken wrist that required surgery, which was completed a couple of weeks ago. I followed his directives to the t for my mallet injury and it healed even better than he predicted. He is a nice man, but is very no nonsense and seems to know his stuff, pretty much better than anyone. The physical therapist at the Hand Clinic next door said he's never seen a bad result from any of Dr. Callister's operations. Basically, he's the best orthopedic surgeon around. If you have something broken, go to this guy to get it fixed--you've only got one body.
If ANYONE out there is looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon find Dr. Neil Callister at the Intermountain Calton-Harrison Clinic. He is amazing and you will not regret it, he had only the BEST training....I later found out he studied under Dr. Allison.
Doctor Callister operated on my wrist. He did a great job at educating me on my options, was great at being timely on my appointments and did a great job on my surgery. He turned a bad break in to a not so bad experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone that has the misfortune to need an operation.
Some people would not appreciate his direct manner but I am kind of the same way and understood he actually was rushing because he didn't have time to see me at all but fit me in anyway which was a huge service and sacrifice on his part. If we had more time I would have been confident in him as a surgeon.
